Course Brief

The course is designed to develop the overview of techniques and processes for such students who have little to no knowledge about the process of how the fabric can be treated in different ways.

This course will get them the knowhow of the basics of treating a fabric used in textiles and fashion through a series of assignments. It will help students learn the basic methods of various fabric techniques including tie & dye, embroidery with different types of stitches, eco-printing, weaving and punch needle. The students will be introduced to a variety of mediums and will be able to recognize the textile techniques used around them.

Course Duration: 08 Weeks (16 sessions)
Course Dates: June 13th  2022- 3rd August 2022
Course Days: Monday & Wednesday
Course Timings: 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm
Course Fee: Rs. 20,000

Weeks

Week 1:

  • Introduction to dyes
  • Difference between synthetic and natural dyes
  • Difference between cold and hot dyes
  • Making dyes
  • Folding and tying techniques
  • Gradients in tie and dye
  • Color blocking in tie and dye
  • Creating texture through tie and dye

Week 2:

  • batik techniques
  • cold dye techniques
  • using natural dyes
  • eco-printing

Week 3:

  • introduction to basic stitches
    1. Cretan stitch
    2. Spider web stitch
    3. Stem stitch
    4. Satin stitch
    5. Fish bone stitch
    6. French knot
    7. running stitch
    8. star stitch
    9. Long French knot
    10. Woven picot stitch

Week 4:

  • Working on the combination of Stitches.

Week 5:

  • Introduction to punch needle
  • Different type of punch needle techniques
    1. flat stitch
    2. loop stitch

Week 6:

  • Different type of punch needle techniques
    1. shag effect
    2. exaggerated loop
  • Working on combination of punch needle techniques

Week 7:

  • Introduction to basic Weaves
    1. plain weave
    2. basket weave
    3. loops

Week 8:

  • Using different type of materials with different weaves
    1. Twill weave
    2. Rya knots
    3. Soumak weave
