Course Brief
The course offers an eight-week intensive course designed to maximize your understanding of technical and contextual knowledge within a minimum time-frame through hands-on studio classes enhanced by a supporting theoretical component.
It especially aims to cater to the needs of students who have little or no knowledge about the process of sewing and pattern-making and wish to explore this venue to attain the required skills. This course will build an understanding of machine handling while utilizing techniques of stitching involved during the process of garment stitching. By the end of the course the student will also have a sound knowledge of fabrics and their handling with regard to warp and weft.

Duration: 8 weeks (16 sessions)
Tuesday & Saturday: 4.30pm-6.30pm

Learning Outcomes
The student will become familiar with:
- The basic and required fashion terminologies
- International and local fashion designers
- Signs, symbols and annotations
The student will accomplish the following skills:
- Hand stitches and machine seams.
- Learning body proportions
- Taking measurements from the body
- Pattern making (bodice, tunic, sleeve, pants with darts)
- Sewing (bodice, tunic, sleeve)
- Rendering a basic croquis

- Three yards Calico
- Japanese ruler if work is in cm’s.
- Full metal scale 40 inches
- French curve
- French pins
- Clutch pencil
