The program “Jewellery Designing using Textiles” polishes students’ creativity and helps them develop aesthetic skills through experimental Textile Design.
Course Details
Textile can be a versatile and vibrant material for jewellery. We will explore how different contemporary designers use this material and where to source necessary tools and materials. We will look at how textile can be cut to make to commercial jewellery range (but we will not be using CAD on this course).
During this course you will gain knowledge of the variety of textile materials, design themes, composing of designs and materials, recycling of textiles, its various stages of processing and last but not least the presentation of their masterpieces. During the course of study, several practical workshops will be conducted by the instructor, and lectures will be directed to pave the way towards a successful journey as a jewellery designer.

By the end of the course you should gain a good understanding of textile as a material for jewellery making. You will end with a finished piece of jewellery in textile and some test samples.

Tutor Description
Faiza Khan is an art lover and feels passionate about it. She has been involved in the textile industry in the areas of creative designs as well as teaching designs since she graduated from the Indus Valley School of Arts and Architecture in 2002. She has taught at many levels from Continuing Education Program at IVS and day courses to Bachelors level at Iqra University; AIFD and the Textile Institute of Pakistan, TIP. Previously Faiza has worked for a number of years as an entrepreneur. She was also associated with design projects (weave, print and embroidery) working with designers and companies on a variety of different jobs. As everyone finds their passion, recycling of textile material indulged her in its own way. It made her to explore different mediums and products. She boldly mixes different kinds of textiles with leather and beads to show the impact of modernization and its integration with culture and tradition thus creating contemporary jewelry.
